Edward Kerry Sullivan, 55, a merchant
Marine,
travel
enthusiast,
and
environmental leader died 12/21/12 at his
home in Rosebank.
Kerry served as
džĞĐƵƟǀ Ğ ŝƌĞĐƚŽƌ ŽĨ
NRPA for many
years.
Born in West
Brighton,
Kerry
Sullivan grew up in
New Brighton and
graduated from
ƵƌƟƐ , ŝŐŚ ^ĐŚŽŽů͘
Kerry earned a District scholarship from
(
then) Congressman John Murphy to the
Merchant Marine Academy and as a Ship’s
Captain he traveled the world. He learned
everything about the sea and marine
transport.
He traveled and lived in California for a
while; he worked making leather belts, hats
and accessories. When he was young, Kerry
ĨŽƵŐŚƚ Žī Ă ĚĞǀ ĂƐƚĂƟŶŐ ĐĂƐĞ ŽĨ ' ƵŝůĂŝŶ

Barre Syndrome, but was able to fully
recover.

Mr. Sullivan was a founding member of North

ĐŽŶƚĂŵŝŶĂƚĞĚ ĚƌĞĚŐĞĚƵŵƉŝŶŐ͕
ĂŶĚ Į ŐŚƟŶŐĨŽƌ
public access to the waterfront.
Kerry enjoyed striped bass fishing and worked
hard to protect the marine environment with
his friends and associates at the Natural
ZĞƐŽƵƌĐĞƐ WƌŽƚĞĐƟǀ Ğ ƐƐŽĐŝĂƟŽŶ͕
ĚĞĚŝĐĂƟŶŐ
ŚŝƐ ůŝĨĞ ƚŽ ƉƌŽƚĞĐƟŶŐƚŚĞ Į ƐŚĞƌŝĞƐ ĂŶĚ ŽƵƌďĂLJƐ͕
rivers, and ocean. He cleaned up hundreds of
pounds of floatable debris. He was an honoree
of NYC Parks Dept., volunteer division.

recognized by Gov. Pataki as an Environmental
Leader.
In 2005, Kerry visited his cousin, Danny, in
Alabama, and brought back a lovable Golden
Retriever puppy - Bear Bryant. Bear loved
Kerry and Vickie so much and they became the
joy of each other lives.
Kerry was a kind, lovable, generous person
who will be forever in our hearts.
Mr. Sullivan is survived by his wife Victoria, his
Mother, his sisters Debbie, Cathy, and his
nephew, Sergio, and several other nieces and
nephews.
